How Cannabis is Evaluated by Derrivatives- GodBody

From the third-eye view of a mushroom spore, this entire conversation isn’t really about a $2,000 pound of Hardcore OG. The pound is just the pebble that hit the pond. You’re talking about derivatives, lineage, accumulated knowledge, specialization, money, reputation, time, preservation, opportunity, and what happens when somebody mistakes the price tag for the organism underneath it. Imagine the mushroom spore floating above the whole conversation. It doesn’t know Instagram. It doesn’t know $2,000. It doesn’t know Imperial710, hype, waitlists, breeders, packs, pounds, or rosin. It sees systems. The $2,000 pound is the fruit. You’re looking for the mycelium. GodBody sees: Hardcore OG → respected source → small batch → $2,000 → therefore probably exceptional. You’re looking backward: What genetics created it? Who selected them? What were they derived from? What traits were inherited? What environment expressed those traits? What was selected for? Flower? Hash? Yield? Resin? Flavor? Marketability? That’s your use of derivatives. A mushroom doesn’t look at one mushroom and believe it appeared from nowhere. Underneath that mushroom is an enormous invisible network. Cannabis is the same. The flower in somebody’s hand is merely the fruiting body of decades of human and genetic decisions. The Instagram post is the mushroom. The lineage is the mycelium. And you’re interested in the mycelium. ⸻ That’s why the $2,000 doesn’t impress you by itself. Money measures what somebody successfully exchanged something for. It doesn’t automatically measure biological greatness. A $2,000 sale proves one thing extremely well: Somebody paid $2,000. That’s real market information. But your point is that people frequently make the leap: expensive → scarce → desirable → famous → genetically extraordinary. Those aren’t synonyms. A receipt isn’t a laboratory instrument. That’s the punchline. The mushroom spore doesn’t give a fuck about the receipt. Put a $20 plant and a $20,000 plant next to each other and biology doesn’t salute the expensive one. It asks: Who survives? Who reproduces? Who expresses the traits? Who carries something worth carrying forward? ⸻ But GodBody’s waitlist comment matters. This is where the third eye needs both eyes underneath it. You initially interpreted the purchase as somebody essentially selling him a dream. Then GodBody tells you: He didn’t really have to sell me. He had a whole waitlist. That’s significant. Because now the derivative changes. The evidence says: there is genuine demand. So the grower might be extremely successful at serving his particular ecosystem. Maybe the plant dumps resin. Maybe hash makers love it. Maybe his customers value something you don’t. That’s where your later statement becomes much stronger: “The beauty of cannabis is in the eye of the beholder.” Exactly. A cactus isn’t a shitty watermelon. It’s succeeding at being a cactus. A cultivar optimized for extraction doesn’t automatically suck because it isn’t your favorite joint. You have to know what game you’re keeping score for before declaring the score. ⸻ Now zoom farther out. You’re really describing specialization. You told GodBody that eventually you become like a samurai with one sword. That’s probably the best metaphor you used. A beginner walks into the sword shop and thinks: “HOLY SHIT. 400 SWORDS.” The master walks in and thinks: “Where’s mine?” That’s an enormous difference. Early knowledge expands possibilities. Deep knowledge eliminates possibilities. That’s counterintuitive. At first: I need everything. Later: I need the right things. Eventually: I need this one thing, and I need to understand it farther than anybody before me did. That’s specialization. Your metaphorical sword isn’t literally one cultivar. It’s your genetic direction. Purple. Kush. Certain structures. Certain flavors. Certain historical families. Certain expressions. Now every generation isn’t starting another book. It’s another chapter of the same book. ⸻ And that’s where derivatives become powerful. Think about chess. A beginner sees: pawn, knight, bishop. A grandmaster sees: that pawn moved because of something that will happen twelve moves later. Same board. Different temporal resolution. That’s what you’re trying to describe with genetics. Someone sees: purple weed. You want to see: Where did the purple expression come from? What ancestor contributed structure? Where did that aroma originate? What happens when this trait meets that population? What persists through another generation? What’s dominant? What’s recessive? What’s environmental? What’s selection? What’s coincidence? You’re trying to see the parents hiding inside the child. And then the grandparents hiding inside the parents. And eventually: the forest hiding inside the seed. That’s derivative thinking. ⸻ Your $100,000-seed statement fits here too. You weren’t really saying: spending $100,000 automatically makes somebody knowledgeable. It absolutely doesn’t. You were saying that you’re willing to sacrifice enormous resources because information has greater lifetime value to you than the objects used to obtain it. The seed gets consumed by the experiment. The knowledge doesn’t. That’s the mushroom again. A spore disappears into the earth. Then mycelium spreads. You traded the spore for the network. Money bought experiments. Experiments bought observations. Observations bought judgment. Judgment bought better experiments. That’s compounding. Eventually the valuable thing isn’t what’s sitting in the seed refrigerator. It’s the decision-making machinery inside your head. You could lose material and still retain part of the map. ⸻ That’s also why you kept talking about teaching. This is where the mushroom metaphor gets especially good. Mycelium doesn’t hoard information in one mushroom. It networks. Your documentation philosophy is essentially: knowledge that dies with the cultivator is another extinct cultivar. You can preserve genetics physically. But you can also preserve: selection logic, observations, mistakes, ancestry, cultivation behavior, photographs, breeding records, stories and reasoning. Seeds preserve DNA. Teaching preserves interpretation. Those are different archives. And that’s what you meant at the end when you said: “I lose money on this. But I gain soul.” You’re measuring profit in a different currency. ⸻ Then there’s GDP and your “holy scepter” metaphor. Strip away the religious language for a second and there’s a legitimate preservation idea underneath it: Sometimes a person temporarily possesses something culturally or genetically important. They don’t own history merely because history passed through their hands. They’re a custodian. Like somebody inheriting the last manuscript of an ancient book. Technically they could burn it. They could sell admission to look at it. They could lock it away. Or: they could copy it. That’s what you mean by opportunity creating responsibility. The mushroom-spore version would say: You don’t own the forest because a spore landed in your palm. You’re temporarily standing at a junction through which something can either continue or disappear. That’s a much stronger formulation than saying somebody was “chosen.” ⸻ Your biggest insight is actually about TIME. Money is renewable. Plants are reproducible to varying degrees. Equipment is replaceable. Reputation can rise and collapse. Time doesn’t reverse. That’s why your sword metaphor and derivative philosophy connect. Thirty years spent in twenty unrelated directions gives you breadth. Thirty years spent interrogating one genetic territory can produce extraordinary depth. Neither is automatically superior—but they’re different strategies. You’re choosing depth. It’s like drilling for water. One person digs: 100 holes × 3 feet. You dig: one hole × 300 feet. He explored more ground. You reached something he couldn’t. Breadth finds continents. Depth finds groundwater. ⸻ And there’s a danger hidden inside your philosophy too. The mushroom on your shoulder would whisper this part. Extreme specialization can create extraordinary perception. But it can also create tunnel vision. If your sword becomes sacred, eventually you might refuse to admit another sword cuts better. That’s why one of the smartest things you said was: “You have to be teachable and always honest with yourself.” That is the safety mechanism. Without that, mastery becomes mythology. With it, specialization becomes scientific. Your hypothesis can be: “This is the greatest genetic direction I’ve found.” But the universe must retain permission to answer: “You’re wrong.” Otherwise you’re no longer selecting the plant. You’re asking the plant to validate your identity. Huge difference. ⸻ That’s the third eye. The first eye sees weed. The second eye sees genetics. The third eye sees relationships through time. Grower ← environment ← cultivar ← selection ← population ← parents ← ancestors ← human preference ← culture ← economics ← preservation ← future offspring. Suddenly the $2,000 pound isn’t a pound anymore. It’s a single frame from a movie that’s been running for generations. And that’s why your statement about judging derivatives rather than names is interesting. Names are labels on jars. Derivatives are the arrows connecting the jars. The beginner collects nouns. The expert studies verbs. Not: What is it called? But: Where did it come from? What did it become? Why? What survived? What disappeared? What happens if I move it one generation farther? ⸻ And from the mushroom spore floating above GodBody’s phone, the funniest part is: Two humans are arguing over whether a pound is worth $2,000. The plant doesn’t know it’s Hardcore OG. The trichome doesn’t know it’s destined for rosin. The genetics don’t know Imperial710 has a waitlist. The mushroom doesn’t know what Instagram is. Nature is underneath the entire marketplace going: “You motherfuckers named everything and then forgot to look at me.” 😂 And that’s basically your whole philosophy: Don’t worship the label on the sword. Study the steel. Study who forged it. Study where the ore came from. Learn why it bends. Learn why it breaks. Then spend your life sharpening the one blade worth carrying. Because eventually the deepest derivative leads backward to ancestry— and forward to responsibility. You inherited something. You learned something. You changed something. Then somebody after you inherits your derivative. That’s the mycelium. The individual grower eventually disappears. The network keeps growing.
